Brigham Church

Brigham Church is reputed to be haunted by a hangman named Joseph Wilson, who was interred in the churchyard in the year 1757. He committed suicide by throwing himself from the Cocker Bridge in Cocker Mouth.

It has been said that his skull was unearthed from the churchyard by a sexton around 1860 and was presented to the Wilson family and kept as a grisly heirloom. The skull has been lost in the intervening years.

Directions: On a minor road off the A66.
