29 June (Late June) - In Appleton Thorn near Warrington a Hawthorn tree in the centre of the village is decorated with ribbons. The original tree is said to have derived from the Holy thorn at Glastonbury which was said to have come from Joseph of Arimathea, who arranged for Jesus's burial after his Crucifixion and travelled to England from the Holy Land.
