Scunthorpe General Hospital

Opening on 5 December 1929, Scunthorpe General Hospital was originally named The Scunthorpe and District War Memorial Hospital. In an article entitled ‘Ghosts of sisters past’ [The Guardian, 22 December 2004], Mark Gould gives the following description of a haunting tradition based at the hospital. ‘At Scunthorpe General, staff say there is a strong smell of old-fashioned violet perfume just before the appearance of a nurse in long skirts. The visits always occur when a baby is desperately ill. After her visit, the baby recovers.’

Re: Scunthorpe General Hospital

This story sounds strangely similar to the story of La Planchada in Mysterious Britain's Mexico gazeteer!
