I managed to hear some of it no problem.  Pretty good Ophiel, though I'm not really a qualified judge :(.

Got that medea player to work and down loaded "Every Rose" and am I right ...was it Ophiel
playing it? Sounded good and I thought it had a wee touch of the Stones sound to it. Dont Know who wrote it tho'. Sorry I dont know much about how the shared sites work but I now have a 4 shared folder on my computer and will need to learn how to use it. Was it an electric accoustic you were playing.

Hi Viking

Yes it was me playing.  I hope all the links work - they do for me - but i am registered there.  If they dont work, let me know.

It was an electric guitar (G&L Asat classic) with a lot of gain rolled off and some acoustic modelling effects through a Boss E-band jam aid which contains the same advanced effects as the Boss GT-10 effects system.  This makes it sound like an electric / acoustic to some ears.  If i muck about with it more - i can get it better and closer to a warm tone.

G&L guitars are amazing (best for strats and tele style IMO).  I've just ordered a spalted maple USA custom made one.....fingers crossed....

Check out 'Blade guitars' as well - they are pretty cool also.

apologies for the multiple replies Dan - feel free to delete the repeated ones above.

Cheers for the input - means alot coming from you.  Check out the 'Dry Country' one.  I am quite proud of that as its a first take after downloading the backing track.

I just loaded it up, and started playing out of the appropriate scale.  It sounds nothing like the song - its just a freestyle jam really.  Its a bit spontaneous and yes there are some errors along the way - but i really got into the groove on that one.

Viking - it was 1990s band 'Poison' who sang every rose has its thorn.....great tune man and sounds ace on an acoustic.  Its just Gadd5 / Cadd5 / D and an straight C.  Strumming pattern is a bugger and i do different versions of it because i cannot decide which one i prefer....

Nut Problem

Hello Dan,
Wee problem when I went to fit my six extra fat strings on the cort guitar. The grooves on the nut are too small for the fatter srtrings to sit properly in place. I dont want to widen them with a stanley knife and file like I did for my friends guitar so he could play normal as he is left handed, that worked fine for him. I may want to change back to normal strings and then the strings would move slightly I think, string grooves being too big. The nut is well glued onto the neck. Dont know how to remove the nut for to replace it with one that suits the wider strings. How did you fit your heavier string onto your guitar? Did you replace the nut, or is there a simpler way that eludes me. Grateful for any tips.

Nice looking guitars Ophiel.  Nicely camoflaged against the wooden flooring :)
