Hi Alissa, how old were you when the ability was first noticed and how old when it stopped?  I am not sure if there is an answer to getting abilities back but I would be very interested to hear about how you used to see and hear ghosts?

I had the ability ever since i can remember but it started fading away when i was 11/12 and now i am 16 now but i remember throughout my childhood sitting alone in the corner of the room talking and playin with "myself" and my mum asked me who i was playing with i described what seemed to be my dead nan and uncle ... And one time at the age of 10 my mum showed me a ffilm ... It was the night after my cousin almost had a very big crash and the film showed me walking down the stairs walking up to her and saying " now is not your time the gates of heaven are closed for you " .... I just used to hug air and i even knew things i shouldn't have or could 't of known at a young age ...

Re: I once had the ability to see and hear ghosts/spirits ...

A friend of mine found that his ability developed at 16.  He tried to refine it through techniques of relaxation, meditation and visualisation.  In their early twenties the ability quietened down and is now pretty much gone.  Personally, if I were you and having seen how it mixed up a friend of mine, I would be glad it has gone for now.

I don't want to sound like a parent or boring adult, but sixteen is an age where you have enough going on in your life even without some strange ability to get used to.  I'd wait until your nearer twenty, more settled and have all your exams etc out of the way before adding something like this.

It doesn't stop you reading about the subject and taking an active interest though:)  You may find the article about my friend useful:

Hi Alissa,

I just joined this forum and read with interest your past "history" of seeing spirits.

Young children often see spirits because they are "open" to them. By the time they reach their teen years, sadly, many kids stop seeing spirits because they have been told over and over again by well meaning adults that it is just their imagination.

I agree with Ian that at 16 or so, you now have a lot on your social "plate" so maybe you could postpone further investigation on re-awakening your "spirit sight". If I may suggest, try to avoid the current fad of TV shows and movies dealing with witchcraft and sorcery. Until you know what you are about, I think these so-called "harmless" pursuits are, at the very least, distracting. There are doors to the unknown that you just shouldn't open, especially at your age. Also, stay away from OUIJA boards. They are most definitely NOT TOYS!

And also, not to sound like I'm preaching, during this time it would be an excellent idea to read about spiritual development instead of actually developing the talent you seem to have. In other words, do your homework. You might look into the writings of and about EDGAR CAYCE; he was known as "The American Seer" and lived here in the USA. A good book to read as an introduction to Cayce is by THOMAS SEGRUE and the title is, "There Is A River". It gives you an idea of how Cayce was able to go into a sleep /trance state and "channel" wisdom that was used in his healing work.

Hope this gives you an idea of how to re-connect.

May God bless you and enjoy your holiday season.

ENJOY!

I agree with the others. I am 'sensitive' to ghosts/spirits and can tell if something is lingering in a house or place, but I wish I wasn't. I am not a person who scares easily but sometimes it frightens me to death. Mostly, I ignore it as best I can but sometimes the feeling is very strong. That is usually when I run away! Please don't try and get this feeling back, in my experience, if something wants to make contact with you, then it will............Karen x
