You know, this map is missing one.  The Green Lady of Dunstaffnage castle.  My memory of the story is vague, but I seem to recall that sightings of her relate to the taking o the castle by the Campbells, though I could be mistaken.

I tried writing a comment but it disappeared. In short, what about the Celtic Green Man, Holly / Oak King, depending on season, samhain [hallow’een] or Beltane [mayday]. Especially at yule (from ancient ‘huul’ = sun, we also get ‘wheel’ from this root word) A friend (we shared a room), when a little girl, had seen (in Scotland) a Grey Lady? with ‘no eyes’, sitting in an old chair (rocking chair) watching her…just felt like writing in.(My Scottish relatives, the border Armstrong [please read about them, plus other border clans,Armstrong museum in Langolm, near Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway) I guess you’ll have considered The Green Man /Horned God?

Dunstaffnage Castle, thats another on my to do list then :).

I suppose their coul dbe connections with iconic celtic figures, but folklore and legend influence how an apparition is percieved or described by a witness, that is of course if all these "green" ladies were seen in the green as to say.
