Strange experience in my old home
Hi All,
When I was 17 years old I shared the downstairs flat in a large house in Highgate, north London with my parents. My mother would hear a bell ringing but could never find the source and she would often smell cooking but again could never trace the source. We had a cellar and one time I was sitting on the last step of the slatted wooden stairs chopping wood for the fire when I distinctly felt someone looking at me from behind which was the back of the cellar. I told nobody about this but one evening I was talking to my mum and she mentioned that she had felt eyes looking at her in the cellar.. I told her of my experience and she was stunned.
One Friday night I returned home from the pub a bit worse for wear and I was soaked from the continual rain that was falling and went straight to my bed. I'd closed my eyes but I sensed something near me and on opening my eyes I saw a priestlike form with a black hat on his head. I said "go away" . I then went to sleep.
Now 30 years later and I'm living in Brighton I took my daughter up to London to show her my old haunts. We went back to that house where I used to live and knocked on the door. The Lady of the house (most trustworthy) let us in after I explained to her that I used to live there. Over a coffee and cigarette I took a chance and told her of my experience many years back. She went very pensive and then she said that her daughter had seen a form with a black hat on its head standing on the landing which frightened her but on looking again it had gone.
I was stunned as was my daughter. The lady of the house said that the atmosphere was sometimes strange.
I did have her email address to keep in touch but I have since lost it .
Any comments please.
Brian.

Yes I have had a similar experience (without the booze I must say)that makes it no less valid, but others in the forum might disagree as it can damage the evidence.
What is interesting about these occurrences is how often they seem to be in liminal places- ie borderland in terms of environment-tops of stairs, windows, corridors etc.
Could it be that we are affected by the environment and are more likely to "see","hear" things etc in particular places
