I'm curious to know if anyone has had any personal ghostie experiences or iunexplained events.

I'll start the ball rolling with this short tale, my only 'ghostly' experience to date. I live in an old flat in Edinburgh and a couple of years ago I was spending the night on my own. Lying in bed reading, I heard a noise in the hall - these things always happen when you're on your own. It brought me out of my reading and I sat up, thinking that it may have been the heating, even though it wasn't a pipes sort of sound. The door to the hallway was open, and after a few minutes I went back to reading. Then I heard a male voice in the hall! It was only a word or two, and as I wasn't expecting it, I didn't catch what was said. I'm a practical person and not prone to bouts of fancy, so I got up and went into the hall, calling out thinking that someone was either at the front door or the other half had suddenly appeared. The flat was locked up, so no one had gotten in. I checked the peep hole and there was no one on the stairwell, plus I hadn't heard anyone on the stairwell - you can hear anyone moving on the stair, but the voice was so clear and unmuffled it would have to have been someone on my landing and there was no one. On the same point, the voice couldn't have been in the flat next door or downstairs! Also, the TV and radio were both off. Now I'm not saying it's a ghost or anything, merely one of those curious but interesting incidents that make up life.

Anyone else got something to share, especially with all the ghost hunters on the forum...

My Experience

Ok, I've had a few strange experiences over the years, but luckily I have been able to explain many of them upon closer examination.  I'll get a few more up later, but for now, refer to the Muncaster article for one of my most perplexing ones.

The Muncaster tale is

The Muncaster tale is certainly an in interesting one, especially having the two seperate witnesses. Muncaster itself is rather a curious place, everytime I've past it, it's been shrouded in mist. And that painting of Tom - the eyes were so creepy.

And isn't there some glass bowl or something with a story behind it?

The Luck of Muncaster, given

The Luck of Muncaster, given by King Henry VI to Sir John Pennington after he gave refuge to th eKing after his defeat at the Battle of Hexham in 1463.

When he left he was reputed to say whilst giving the glass Luck "Your family shall prosper so long as they preserve the this glass unbroken"

There is also a Luck associated with nearby Workington Hall.

Oddity

I've seen and heard a lot of odd things, but I must admit seeing a 65 pound cast iron fireplace insert stand up and walk on it's own in front of other witnesses (with none of them even close to it) for about 10 feet is one of the stranger.

That would probably be the

That would probably be the time to leave, Baron.

I've had some experiences, but I'm not sure how I'd react if I saw something as bl;atant as that. Normally you hear and see things, just out of ear/eyeshot, so you can be rational and put it down to mice or something and stay sane. But if I saw something big and heavy move, it would be time to make to the exits.

The Nun

I was 15yr old at the time this incident occured (in my 40s now). see what you think?
My friend Anna and i were walking home from school, up the new road  as we all called it, The road was newly built a year or two  previous,  for a new housing estate, they were building at that time,.  Near to where the road and the new houses were, about half a mile across the mountain side, there is a lake, and the locals call it the Cardi pond, there is a wide stoney path leading off the road to it!!, (been there years) So we were talking away, when, i happened to look across the road, and saw a woman, around 5ft tall and wearing what i saw was a nuns outfit, i watched as she walked toward the pond then she disappeared, i turned to my friend and asked ''did you see that''  ''no'' she said, she just laughed and said '' don't be daft you must have been seeing things'',. Thirty three years on, i made a new friend, Ann, who is sixty four, i related my experience to her, and she said '' her friend in the late sixties, had been a nun and she  had commited suicide in the pond,. Also my daughter's friend's father told his daughter, back about five, six years ago, he and a few of his workmates were coming home along the side of the mountain road by the pond, and he said ''he saw and heard her because she called his name'' two of his colleagues he said also witnessed the nun. I've related an experience

I've related an experience which happened under my very nose (though I was sound asleep and didn't notice a thing) in the topic "Can animals detect ghosts?".
My other experiences are not that great: I saw a UFO 26 years ago, very disturbing happening that still haunts me, and fifteen or so years ago I had a curious experience, though I would be cautious of defining it as "paranormal". Here it goes.
I opened a drawer where I kept my music records to get a cassette tape (I always keep them in alphabetic order) and there was a an empty slot where a folk record was supposed to be. I searched high and low thinking that I may have accidentally misplaced it but to not avail. After a couple of hours I had given up hope, but opened the drawer nonetheless and the tape was back at its place. I was home alone the whole time and I have wondered ever since which bizzare trick my senses played on me.

Thanks for that account

Thanks for that account Kez.  It would be good to know if anyone else has had a similar independent experience at Cardi Pond.

As for your Folk Tape Mauro, it sounds like the Haunted Mince Pies situation :)
