Has anyone got any tales of places they used to go when growing up, for example when you or one of your mates started to drive and spent nights exploring the so called haunted places of your neighborhood?
We used to drive out to places like moreland manor (once a ruin near appleby cumbria, but now restored) and make our way up to the old coach house. The story was that on certian nights a phantom coach would be driven wildly down the drive. I think we managed about 5 mins but then always ended up legging it back to the car! Another place was Pengragon sited on Mallerstang and nearby there was a place called Devils leap, not sure, but again a good place to visit.
When I was much older I used to live in patterdale by ullswater and many nights had to walk from glennriding back to patterdale. I think again it must have been local tales but late at night on my own and in the pitch black I had to pass an old boathouse (near st patricks well) This place used to scare the life out of me, especially when waters moved and caused a bell in side to tinkle. Loads of fun and that lovely warm scary feeling.
