The Green Faced Ghost
Pluckley, Kent
Supposedly the most haunted village in Britain, it is haunted by ghostly monks, phantom coaches, phantom dogs and other apparitions.
The Priory Christchurch, Dorset
There are reports of phantom monks and unaccountable noises.
Raynham Hall, Norfolk
Famously haunted by a Brown Lady, who was captured on film by photographers from Country Life magazine.
Reculver Kent
The castle ruins were haunted by the sound of children crying. The skeletons of young children were found in the foundations during excavations in the 1960's.
Rosslyn Chapel, Rosslyn.
The chapel is said to be haunted by ghostly monks, and a White Lady. An area near to the castle is haunted by a black knight on horseback.
The Rufus Stone, Upper Canterton Hampshire
Scene of the accidental slaying of William Rufus, a ghostly funeral procession is said to follow the route his body was carried.
Samlesbury Hall, Blackburn Lancs.
The area around the hall is said to be haunted by a lady, supposed to be Lady Dorothy, the daughter of one of the Southwarks of Samlesbury about 400 years ago.
Sandwood Bay (below Cape Wrath), Sutherland
The area is haunted by the ghost of a bearded sailor, clad in sea boots, a sailors cap and a brass buttoned tunic. A ruined cottage is also haunted, and the area has been associated with mermaids for centuries.
Sawston Hall, Cambridgeshire
Haunted by the smiling spirit of Mary Tudor, and the sound of spinneret playing.
Scotney Castle, Kent
A water drenched ghost of a revenue officer, is said to haunt the castle. It has been surmised that he was murdered in the area.
Sedgemoor Somerset
The battlefield is said to be haunted by ghostly soldiers and horses.
Spynie Palace Near Elgin
The palace is haunted by a ghostly piper, and the ghost of a lion, one of the Bishops, the Bishop of Hepburn is supposed to have studied black magic.
St Albans, Hertfordshire
St Albans was the scene of two particularly bloody battles, fought in its streets during the wars of the roses. In the years after the two battles, one house was said to ring with the clash of steel on the anniversary of the event.
