The Crown, Middlesbrough
The Crown public house in Middlebrough is currently closed. The building dates from 1923 and was originally a cinema before becoming a Bingo Hall and pub. According to Mieka Smiles in her Gazette Live article about haunted Teeside dated 13 June 2014, ‘Legend has it that the ghost of a little girl believed to be called Maria has been seen on CCTV, and disembodied voices are frequently heard by both staff and customers. It’s also believed there is a ghostly caretaker who continues to look after the building from beyond the grave.’
