Mansion House, Dublin

Built in 1710 by Joshua Dawson, the Mansion House has been the official residence of the Lord Mayor of Dublin since 1715. An by Kieran Dineen in The Irish Sun on 23rd May 2013 suggests the building is haunted.

According to Dineen 'The Irish Sun revealed yesterday that the city’s Lord Mayor Naoise O Muiri is convinced there is paranormal activity afoot — after his daughter encountered a ghost. Briona, four, told her dad she saw a girl with dark curly hair sitting watching TV at 3am — even though there was no living person present at the time. And the mayor said when he walks into another room of the house it feels “like someone is watching you”.

Former Lord Mayor Catherine Byrne revealed her two daughters heard a baby crying one night while they were living there — when there was no other child present. On another occasion the current TD was coming back late at night when she felt “somebody tug at my coat” — but when she turned around to look she found nobody there. Catherine also revealed that other former residents have told her similarly scary stories from their time living in the house.
