The County Hotel
The hotel is said to be haunted by the ghost of Bonnie Prince Charlie, who stayed here in 1745, Charlie is said to haunt many places in Scotland.
Dumfries
Robert the Bruce stabbed Red Comyn to death in 1306 on the site of a friary church.
Local lore says Bruce haunts the place.
The King's Arms Hotel
The King's Arms Hotel, which has now been demolished, was reputed to be haunted by a woman in her early twenties. Traditionally she was the widow of Captain Robert Stewart, who died during the French revolution. She pined away after his death and died of heartbreak at the age of 24. On the 28th of June 1996 the Dumfries Courier reported that her presence has been felt in Boots Chemist, which is next door to the site.

The Globe Inn
Traditionally the Inn is haunted by a barmaid called Ann, who had an affair with Robert Burns. Burns made her pregnant and she bore him a child that she named Elizabeth. While Robert Burns was well known for his womanising ways it is not know if there is any truth in the story.
The ghost has been active in recent years, and the Dumfries and Galloway Standard has reported that there have been sightings of a White Lady, especially when Burns is being celebrated. There has been other phenomenon at the pub including lights going on and people being pulled by an unseen force.
Dumfries Priory
During World War 2, Norwegian soldiers stationed in Dumfries, saw a headless horseman. It is said the ghost is that of a man called McGilligan, who was decapitated by a low tree branch whilst out horse riding. His head came to rest outside the gates of Dumfries Priory.
