| Balgonie Castle |
The castle was built by the Sibbald family in the 14th century, and was later in the possession of Sir Robert Lundie during the 15th century. The castle was visited by both James the IV and Mary Queen of Scots, who seems to have visited most of the castles in Scotland, in legend if not in the flesh.
The castle is said have a number of ghosts, a Green Lady known as Green Jeanie, is said to haunt the castle stairs, she has been identified with one of the Lundie family. She is said to have haunted the site for over two centuries. (A Green Jean also haunts Wemyss castle).
The castle is also associated with a grey figure of a man, a White Lady to go with the green one, and a spirit without a head, ghostly voices have also been heard in the hall.

A large stone, close to the churchyard is said to have been thrown by the Devil from the Isle of May. It is possible that the stone was part of a sacred site here before the church.
Apparently the stone was once blue, making it similar to the Blue Stane of St Andrews, which was also thrown over a great distance. Early churches were often sited on places of ancient worship.
