The ruined remains of the village mill, are said to be haunted by the spectre of a hanged man who appears with bulging eyes.

During one of Cromwell's campaigns in Scotland, a small billet of his troops invaded the miller's home and demanded to stay. The scene is said to be repeated on darker nights, when the sound of branches creaking with his dead weight can be heard.
