Lordscairnie Castle


The castle has links with the legend of the more infamous Glamis Castle. According to local folklore Alexander Lyndsay, otherwise known as Earl Beardie built the castle in the 14th century.

Earl Beardie is said to haunt Glamis playing cards eternally with the Devil to try and win back his soul, and the same legend applies to this castle, although there is no evidence that his phantom has been seen here. Another legend suggests there is buried treasure nearby.
