Culloden House
The house that exists stands on the foundations of a house where Bonnie Prince Charlie is said to have stayed with the Forbes family before the disastrous battle of Culloden in 1746.

After the Jacobite's defeat the house was destroyed in reprisal by the Duke of Cumberland Traditionally the house is said to be haunted by the ghost of Bonnie Prince although why he should return here after such a short stay is not recorded.

The story about the haunting is likely to be only folklore perhaps stemming from the memory of the house being destroyed in 1746 so soon after the battle.

Loch Ashie
A spectral army is said to appear on the shores of the loch at dawn on May the first, which is Beltane in the Celtic calander. One sighting is alleged to have taken place during the First World War, when a walker was on the moors close to the loch. He witnessed a battling army of horsemen and foot soldiers savaging each other in silence. They promptly vanished in the blink of an eye.

Tradition suggests that the warriors are men from the army of Finn Mac Cumhail, the Irish folk hero, this may be a folk memory of a real battle, which took place in the area.
