Maen Huail

Situated outside Exmewe House (currently Barclays Bank) in Ruthin, is a large boulder that was reputedly used by King Arthur as a chopping block when he killed a love rival. The story states that King Arthur and Huail (son of Caw) once fought over the favours of a lady.

During the fight, both parties were wounded, but Arthur always walked with a limp after that day. Some years later, Arthur and Huail met again, and even though Arthur was in disguise, Huail recognised him by his limp. They began to fight again, and Arthur threw Huail against this stone and cut off his head.
