Crail


A large stone, close to the churchyard is said to have been thrown by the Devil from the Isle of May. It is possible that the stone was part of a sacred site here before the church.

Apparently the stone was once blue, making it similar to the Blue Stane of St Andrews, which was also thrown over a great distance. Early churches were often sited on places of ancient worship.
