Ettington Park Hotel

Part of the Hand Picked Hotel group, the Etterington Park Hotel was the former home of the Shirley family, Lords of the Manor since the time of the Domesday Book. The current Neo-Gothic mansion building, which may stand on the site of a Roman villa, dates from the Victorian era and was designed by John Pritchard. It has had several uses apart from being a home.

Irish Ghosts by Peter Underwood

Peter Underwood, a world renowned expert on the paranormal, has published a new book focussing on Irish Ghosts. I had great hopes for this book having owned a copy of his 1973 book Gazetteer of Scottish & Irish Ghosts for a number of years, and I’m pleased to say I’ve not being disappointed.

The Castle Hotel, Conwy

The Castle Hotel on High Street is an old coaching inn that was originally made up of two hostelries, the King’s Head and The Castle, which was the larger of the two. They were combined to create The Castle Hotel in the 1880’s.

The Bull Hotel, Abergele

The Bull Hotel on Chapel Street Abergele has an interesting history, and is also alleged to be haunted. In 1848, Jane Roberts owned the building and allowed the Mormon preacher John Parry Junior to preach from the house.

Queen’s Hotel, Blaenau Ffestiniog

The Queen’s Hotel is situated next to the railway station, on the High Street of the historical slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. It was built in around 1850 and has been a focal point for locals and tourists to the area for many years. In the 1990’s the hotel was closed for four years, modernised whilst retaining its Victorian character, and reopened.
